100,000!

100k-posts

I noticed that I hit a milestone yesterday, this blog surpassed 100,000 views! As I write this I’m at 100,322 to be exact. It’s been a long, but winding, road to this destination, since October 2008 when I decided to switch from using my Myspace blog to WordPress. Originally I just used jrlemar as my domain named, but soon after I decided to use something more creative. Finding a unique domain name was way harder than I ever thought, every great name I could think of was already taken. So I decided to be funny, and came up with a combination of Myspace, Livejournal, Friendster, and Facebook.

I used that for about a year, but then I thought that was too obscure, so I came up with an easier combination of Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter.

So I switched all my posts over to that new domain and used it for another year or so. I still like that one, but eventually decided that was too odd as well. Eventually I came up with iblogalot, which was so simple that I couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of it before and that nobody else didn’t already have it. So starting in December 11, 2010 that became my blog, and I switched over all old posts to that. So even though if you go through my archives you’ll see the first post back in October 2008, technically this blog on began December 2010 with my first official new post on iblogalot being a brief post about ASIAN FETISH, all posts before that are just imports from previous domains.

So in a little less than 4 years I’ve got to 100,000. Not bad. Most of that growth has been in this past year, as I finally decided to try to live up to the name and blog a lot. It’s interesting to check my stats and see what my top posts have been so far. Here’s my top 10:

1/“MOUNTAINS” by Odessa Rose (aka That song from Karen’s last scene on “Mistresses” episode 5)
July 6, 2013 16,127 views
And still gaining more everyday. By far my most viewed post, nothing even comes close. At the time this song was unreleased, and I guess I was one of the first people to track it down and find out more about it, so all web-searches for it lead to me.

2/CELEBRATING SOFIA VERGARA
February 17, 2013 2,802 views
This jumped in views after I posted it on Reddit a few months ago, and that’s still where most of the hits come from on it. She’s still My Ideal Woman.

3/EXAMINING EXCELEROL
March 2, 2013 2,744 views
I guess people are interested in this for the same reason I was, they want to find something that increases their attention span and concentration, looking for a “smart pill”. Hopefully I’ve helped keep too many people from wasting their money on this, like I did.

4/MJ IN A BIKINI
February 2, 2013 2,737 views
MJ retweeted me when I first posted this, so that gave me hundreds of views that first day, and it continued for quit awhile after that. This was my post for months. It continues to get hits as folks search her name, usually when the TV show is coming back on. Plus, she’s done some official modeling pictures since then, so I think folks are looking for those pics when they search her, but they’re brought here.

5/TRYING TRUBRAIN
September 11, 2013 2,042 views
Similar to Excelerol, folks are looking for a “smart pill.” This did seem to work a little for me, and I’ve used it several times since then. So I cautiously recommend it.

6/Spider-Man & Batman: “Disordered Minds”
July 23, 2014 1,709 views
These are two of the most popular superheroes in the world. Most views came from Reddit, as I posted it in both the Spider-Man and Batman sub-forums there, plus writer J.M. DeMatteis retweeted the link, so I got a lot of hits from him. I should probably review the 2nd crossover that DeMatteis wrote.

7/WHAT IF ELVIS PRESLEY REALLY WAS STILL ALIVE TODAY?
June 5th, 2013 ‏ 1,335 views
This was a fun little creative exercise. People love Elvis, and I guess the speculation of him still being alive is what draws views here, as I notice that most new hits come from folks searching phrases like “Is Elvis still alive?” and “Did Elvis fake his death?”

8/TWENTY DAYS ON TRUBRAIN
October 1, 2013 1,306 views
My first follow-up post on using these pills.

9/THAT TIME SUPERMAN WAS ALMOST FORCED TO MAKE A PORNO FILM
July 27, 2014 1,070 views
I still can’t believe that DC Comics actually published this freaky story.

10/Yeah, I Watched “Dating Naked”
July 30, 2014 1,001 views
My little recap and review of the first two episodes of this show. I’m a little surprised that this post got so much traction. It always seems to get more extra hits each Thursday when a new episode airs.

Technically, the hit on my list is the Home Page, which has 10,111 views so far. It’s funny, there are many other posts that I’m more more proud of having written, like SAGGIN’ = NIGGAS, that have far less hits than these. And there are times when I’ve purposely tried to get extra views by writing specific posts that capitalize on current events. Like when James Garner died back in July I quickly wrote reviews of two of his movies, MY FELLOW AMERICANS and BARBARIANS AT THE GATE, and posted them that day to see if I’d get hits from people searching him online, but neither posts got that many views, and I also thought yesterday’s post about THAT TIME THAT I ALMOST DRANK SOME OF MY OWN URINE would have gotten a bit more traffic. And I’m still shocked that out of all my posts, FEAR OF A WHITE RAPPER is the one that got chosen for FRESHLY PRESSED, which gave me dozens of new followers. I didn’t think that post was particularly special when I wrote it, but folks seemed to like it. It just goes to show, you can’t plan it or force it. This is the advice I give new bloggers, just be patient. Rome wasn’t burnt in a day. Just write what you feel like writing, and eventually people will find it.

Well, I just want to say once again that I am extremely happy for each and ever view I get. When I started blogging it was just for my own personal amusement, something to do in my spare time. I never really thought about whether anyone would actually read any of my ramblings. So to all of you (yes, YOU), I say THANK YOU!
