New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, who resigned from Congress in 2011 after a sexting scandal, admitted Tuesday that his Internet shenanigans didn’t stop when he stepped down in disgrace.
Hours after a gossip website published raunchy texts and explicit photos it said were from 2012, Weiner held an extraordinary press conference — accompanied by his wife Huma Abedin, an aide to Hillary Clinton — to apologize and ask voters for a second chance.
“Some of these things happened before my resignation. Some of them happened after,” Weiner said without providing any specifics. READ MORE
Oh, good grief. How the frak has the knucklehead actually been leading in the polls in the New York Mayoral race? It’s not even that long since he first resigned from Congress. I recall when that whole “sexting” scandal first broke. I wasn’t really familiar with Anthony Weiner before that, I just hadn’t been following politics that much. But as the details came out, especially with his initial lame denials, claiming his Twitter was hacked (that old excuse that everyone uses), I thought he should resign, and debated that with some friends on Facebook who thought it was more important that he stay in Congress, but I just felt that having this idiotic scandal over his head would be a distraction. Now, barely two years later, he decided to run for Mayor of New York, and we get details of these new texts, texts that took place after he resigned from congress.
So let me get this straight, he does all this sexting stuff, with several women, talking dirty and sending naughty pics, then even after that he is exposed (no pun intended), and he is forced to resign in disgrace, he kept doing it?!? First of all, doing it in the first place was stupid, sending these texts under his own name, did he really think this would never come out? Okay, that’s bad enough, but I don’t understand why he KEPT DOING IT, even if it was just for a little while, after he got caught! And then he puts himself back in the national spotlight, knowing that this other info was out there, almost begging for it to come out, too! Sheesh.
I know a lot of people who think it shouldn’t matter, that’s what they said the first time, and that it’s a private issue between him and his wife, and as long as she is standing by him, then it’s none of our business. But to me it’s a matter of judging someone’s critical thinking. To me, this sort of behavior shows a type of recklessness lack of rational thought that I just wouldn’t’ trust in a person to wield any type of political power wisely. I’m not in New York, thankfully, so this doesn’t directly effect me, but if I were a NYC resident, there’s just no way I’d vote for him, I don’t care if I agreed with 100% of his political views. I mean, he’d pretty much have to be running against someone like George Zimmerman for me to even consider the possibility of voting for him this time. If this dude had any decency, and he really wanted to help the public, then instead of trying to run for political office again, he should be doing charity work or something. Actions speak louder than words, and his actions seem incredibly narcissistic to me.
Just my opinion.
I don’t know who is a bigger idiot, him for doing that shit, or his wife for staying with him?

His wife’s a damn fool. I never understand these women who stand by cheaters like that. Have some respect for yourself.

Technically, he didn’t “cheat”, I mean it’s all just sexting, typing dirty things online, he didn’t physically meet any of those women.

That’s still cheating, as far as I’m concerned.

Not a NYC resident but I am going to be in the minority and say let him stay in the race and let the voters decide if he is fit for office. Anthony Wiener isn’t the first politician to get caught and he surely won’t be the last.

Hmmm…does sexting really count as cheating…what an interesting question, I think I may have an idea for a future blog post…
