Former Destrehan High School English teacher Shelley Dufresne walked into Jefferson Parish district court Tuesday (April 25) followed by her attorney, Jim Williams, as she prepares to stand trial on two counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile. Dusfresne is accused of having sex with a then-16-year-old student.

Michelle Hunter is covering the story for NOLA.COM, she wrote this following article:
Details of illicit encounters, Facebook page revealed as Destrehan teacher sex trial opens
Interestingly enough, the prosecution is still alleging that a threesome took place between Dufresne, Respess, and the teenage boy, despite the fact that Respess is not being charged for that. The defense is making a big deal out of the fact the boy’s video (which was deleted before the police could recover it, but they have witnesses who saw the video and describe what’s in it), which allegedly showed Respess while she was asleep as the boy placed his genitals near her face, was a crime itself, and that the boy has not been charged for that. They’re also disputing the exact beginning of the affair, whether it was August 22, 2014 or August 29th, 2014. Apparently, Dufresne is just denying that she had sex with the boy in that particular parish, which means that there is no ground for her to charged for it in this court.
Well, I guess that’s as good a defense as any.
It’s also noted the boy is Hispanic. I must say that that adds another dimension to this case, in my opinion. I’ve speculated before about how much harsher public reaction would be if the genders were reverse (two male teachers having sex with a teenage girl), now imagine if the races were reversed as well? Two Hispanic male teachers banging a 16 year old White girl? They’d already be behind bars!
Anyway, it’s a good recap, but even better Miss Hunter is in court, live-tweeting the trial. I’ve taken the liberty of collecting today’s tweets on Storify. Feel free to give it a read, it’s long, but includes a lot of other details of this affair.
