PREVIOUSLY: Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt #3
Things were looking pretty dire at the end of the previous issue, as Peter Cannon and the other superheroes crossed over to the parallel universe of the evil Peter Cannon, who then proceeded to ruthlessly murder all the superheroes, like good Peter alone. Knowing he was overmatched, good Peter ran away through the dimensional portal he opened, and landed in another parallel universe, meeting another version of himself.
Most of this issue is Peter Cannon in this new alternate universe. It’s not only another reality but in the past. On this Earth it’s 1993. This is a world with no superheroes at all, and the Peter Cannon of this Earth is a completely average man, no super intelligence at all. This Peter takes our Peter to see a doctor, although it’s not clear if he’s really a doctor, who kind of looks like Alan Moore, which I believe is intentional as he also makes several allusions to the Watchmen comic throughout this issue. And then they all go to a local pub, this is somewhere in England, where our Peter tries to figure out what’s going on.
So this is kind of a weird issue, I’m not really sure what to make of it. And all of the scenes in this other reality are drawn in a really crude art style and it’s all in black and white. It’s alright, but I think I’ll prefer it when it gets back to “normal” in the next issue.
