Although Die Hard was on the ropes, with some quick thinking he managed to knock Super-Patriot out and then take his body and fight his way back out of the Cyberdata facility. Back in D.C., government officials start to work on repairing Super-Patriot and undoing his brainwashing.

There’s a poignant moment where Die Hard observes Super-Patriot being taken away and questions his own humanity, implying that Die Hard is indeed some kind of cyborg himself. It ends with he and Glory walking away together, as a caption states that the story will continue in Erik Larsen’s Super-Patriot miniseries.

This wasn’t exactly a groundbreaking story, it’s just an excuse to see Rob Liefeld drawing some action scenes, which he excels at. But the way it ties in with Larsen’s story for his character is cool, and those kinds of crossovers and connections were one of the things I loved about the original Image Comics titles.

In the conclusion to this story, Chapel breaks into Jason Wynn’s home, planning to kill him. But when he confronts Wynn, Wynn reveals that a special super-soldier serum that Wynn had Chapel injected with back when Chapel worked for him (and which Al Simmons smartly refused to take), actually contained a version of the AIDS virus, which Wynn can activate in Chapel’s body, and which he also has the cure for. This revelation leaves Chapel powerless to hurt Wynn and would have major ramifications for the Extreme Studios universe going forward. This is the story that makes these first 3 issues most worth reading, in my opinion
