I find that phrase annoying. I was just reading some article online, where someone said that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has an “Asian fetish.”
I think that’s demeaning. It’s saying that an attraction to Asian women is somehow automatically odd. It must be based on something
superficial. I think the vast majority of men and women have a certain physical “type” that they are attracted to the most, whether it’s a certain
hair color, eye color, height, weight, whatever. So being attracted to Asian females is no different. And if an Asian man is attracted to Asian women,
no one bats an eye, but if a non-Asian man is attracted to Asian women then suddenly that’s proof of having an “Asian Fetish” (or “yellow fever”). Blah.
