They’re still playing up this whole Harry’s moving to Australia thing. C’mon, we know they’re not getting rid of Brett Tucker (I’m guessing half their female viewers would revolt if they did), so I’m not even sure why they’re dragging this out. Either he’s going to change his mind at the last minute, or he’s going to leave temporarily and then come back real soon for some reason (either way it’s probably going to be because he’s realized that he’s in love with Joss). Speaking of Joss, we see her experiencing some new emotions (for her), jealousy and insecurity, as she meets one of Scott’s (Justin Hartley) patients, Autumn (Brooke Peoples), whom he gave breast implants to. That scene in the movie theater was funny, and a perfect contrast to their later ultra-serious argument in the bedroom when he reveals the death of another patient of his. Hartley and Macallen work well together.
After some hesitation, April comes right out and confronts Daniel (Ricky Whittle) about his lying, and he reveals that he’s married. Not exactly a shock. And it makes sense. I mean, the show is called Mistresses, after all. So at least one of the main characters should actually be a “mistress,” right?
The Savi/Dom/Zack story was pretty powerful tonight. You had to love Dom’s (Jason Winston George) reaction when Savi told him the story about how she met Zack (Jason Gerhardt) and he was all “You just let him into your house?!? Are you nuts?!?” That made sense. Zack’s declaration of interest in Savi kind of came out of nowhere, since they haven’t really shown any of that leading up to this. But it led to one of Savi and Dom’s best scenes ever on this entire series. When Dom confronted Savi over her keeping secrets it was so great because it wasn’t a just a stereotypical jealous boyfriend scene, he was hurt. You could see the devastation in his eyes, and hear it in his voice. I loved it. And Milano played it well too, because Savi knew she was wrong, and really couldn’t defend herself.
But the best story tonight is Karen’s (and yes, I’m a little surprised to be writing that). At first I was disappointed that they seemed to be dropping the plot of Karen dressing up in wigs and picking up strange men in bars using a fake name storyline so quickly. And the little dinner and flirtation with Jacob (Matthew Del Negro) almost seemed like a step backward. Ho hum, a boring normal relationship…until we find out that Jacob’s younger ex-girlfriend, whom he dumped to get together with Karen…is ANNA (Catherine Haena Kim)!!!!
Now THAT’S a cliffhanger!
