Team Youngblood #3

Writers: Rob Liefeld, Eric Stephenson
Artist: Chap Yaep
Publisher: Image Comics

This issue is pretty much one long action sequence. Fight scene after fight scene. It opens with Sentinal and Dutch fighting Giger, but he manages to subdue both of them. Riptide makes up for her absence in the previous issue by showing up to save Photon, Masada, and Cougar, just as they were surrounded by soldiers. Dutch has figured out Giger’s plan, which is to take control of the entire world’s nuclear arsenals and use them to bully the world’s governments into submission. It ends with a final showdown between Sentinal and Dutch and Giger, where they blast him to pieces at the last minute, thus saving the day (although Giger brags about being to transfer his consciousness into another cyborg body and thus promises to return).

Youngblood had rigged the satellites to broadcast the fight to the world so everyone got to see them defeat Giger. This included appearances from other Image Comics heroes Spawn and Savage Dragon, as well as Rob Liefeld characters Prophet and Kirby and Battlestone and Boone from Brigade, who are shown talking about and watching the action on Liberty II.

We only get a single panel showing Brahma, leaving his home, and there’s no appearance or mention of Psi-Fire, so their stories remain open for now.

This was a satisfying conclusion to this opening arc of the series.
